MARIA'S MUSINGS
We live in a messy old world. The more we try to sort it into some semblance of order, the more muddled it seems to become especially when it comes to relationships. Perhaps we should just relax and realise people and things don’t have to conform to our idea of what’s perfect for us to live a wonderful life. Maybe all we have to do is to “show up and enjoy the messy, imperfect and beautiful journey of life”.
When we accept that we are just flesh and blood (such messy things, after all) and that we all have our weaknesses, we can start being kinder to ourselves and others. The paradox is that when we start loving rather than judging, change for the better starts taking place.
This does not imply we should drop our standards or live a life where “anything goes”, no, not at all. It just means that we should change our perspective and approach. Condemnation seldom brings about change and is not the way to mend a broken world.
God instructs us to love and pray for ourselves and others, not to try and change them. That’s His job.
